1.
Name of Material
If
material is a new product or generally
unknown, we would need information regarding
its physical characteristics.
2.
Size of Feed
The
hardness of the feed lumps will determine
what maximum size can be fed to Pulva-Sizer® without
pre-crushing. Also the size and type
of mill is a factor.
3.
Fineness of finished product - ideal and acceptable
On
fine powders, a mesh fineness specification
such as 95% through 200 mesh is usually
sufficient. On some materials capacity
may double when grinding to 95% through
compared to 99.5% through.
4.
Capacity in pounds per hour - min. and max.
Giving
minimum and maximum capacity permits
us to select proper size Pulva-Sizer® and
motor.
5.
Abrasive, as sand, flint, etc.
Because
the wear on the hammers, screens and
liners increases very rapidly as the
rotor speed is increased, a semi- or
partially-abrasive material may be practical
on a relatively course grind with low
rotor speed but the wear would be excessively
high on an ultra fine grind where highest
rotor speed would be required. With a
five pound sample we can check the degree
of abrasiveness of any material and usually
determine amount or rate of wear to be
expected.
6.
Heat sensitive - softening temperature
Most
of the energy or power put in to the
material to reduce its particle size
is converted to heat. Therefore, on materials
having low softening points or which
are heat sensitive, it may be necessary
to provide suitable means to remove the
excess heat from the grinding chamber
by using larger volume of air or chilled
air.
7.
Moisture or Oil content
Although
the Pulva-Sizer® is recommended for
both dry and wet grinding, there is a
point between where many materials attain
a plastic or sticky consistency due to
high water or oil content.
8.
Blending or dispersing desired
If
the feed material consists of two or
more products, such products must be
premixed first.
9.
Additional pertinent data
On
material having unusual characteristics
the customer can generally supplement
the information required above with a
description of the distinctive difference
peculiar to the product.
10.
Test grinding
When
a test grinding is indicated the above
information is essential for us to intelligently
conduct the test. The amount of material
to be sent depends largely on ultimate
capacity required and size of Pulva-Sizer® used
to make the test.
